Crunchyroll not working on my Roku 4 device

Jump to solution

Every time I select the app it shows the Crunchyroll title screen then goes black. I tried resetting my Roku, checking my connection, updating the device and the app, clearing the cache, removing apps, and factory reset but nothing is working.

Model is 4400X - Roku 4

My software version is 11.5.0 build 4312-17

Crunchyroll version is 5.16 * Build 2503272048

Hey @Hank_One,

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community!

You can keep using your Roku player to stream, but you may lose access to some channels over time as those channel partners make updates. You also won't get new features or streaming channels, updates to existing channels, or other software-related updates.

If you haven't already upgraded your device, you should have received an email with offers to purchase a new player at a discounted price. You can also access this offer by signing into your Roku account and visiting the following website https://my.roku.com/offers.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know. We're here to help.

Thanks,

That model hasn't been supported for years.  It's stuck on software version 11.5 while version 14.5 is rolling out.  It's likely that the app no longer supports your device.

@Hank_One-

It may be time to update to an up-to-date ROKU model.  Roku 4 has not been supported since the release of Roku 12 in 2023.

The last Roku version a Roku 4 can run is version 11.5.  Many channel apps now require version 12.0 or higher and will not run on earlier versions.  Roku version 14.0 is in wide release and 14.5 is starting to be rolled out to currently supported models.

I can find no information on Crunchyroll's website as to which Roku models or Roku operating system versions are supported.

Hi, @Hank_One

Welcome!

Sorry to hear that your Roku 4 no longer works with the Crunchyroll app.

As advised by our Roku Streaming experts in this thread, your current Roku is classified as a Legacy device. This means that it no longer receives software updates from Roku. As a result, apps may become incompatible, or certain features might not work as intended.

Hope this clarifies your concern, and let us know if you have further inquiries.

Thanks,
Roku Community Team.

That's a shame because every other channel on Roku works except that one.  What can I do with it now?
