removed cable from roku and tv, turned off roku and Tv, plugged in cable (yes it's high speed), powered up both.

OK, that's not really a workaround. It's only some initial steps to follow. Look in the Settings menu, find the Power settings, and look for Power Saver. Turn that off, and many users have reported complete success doing that.

Re: Are you seeing HDCP errors on Roku Express 4K+ device?

I purchased for Roku ultras for my Samsung TVs since a couple could not download YouTube TV. I received the HD CP error when I try to run YouTube TV and Netflix but not on other apps.  I have older model Roku in my other home and never have any problems. I’m connecting via Wi-Fi.  4800X Ultra (have 4) version 11 build 4193-c2.

I bought a Roku about three weeks ago and I’ve been having this issue since the beginning. I have a model 4802X Roku ultra software version 1100 build for 193 C2 device ID SODA22249UWG. I have followed the Directions on the screen, I tried changing the HDMI cord I tried changing the port and I also tried resetting up the box.

Re: !!!!HDCP PLEASE FIX ROKU !!!!

Yeah the reason I came to Roku is the last update on my fire stick bricked it (18 months old) and their “fix” was to offer me a 16% discount on a new one, yeah no thanks. So that’s not really a good option, just my 2 cents.

One of my fire sticks bricked on the last update, hence my foray into Roku. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Re: Are you seeing HDCP errors on Roku Express 4K+ device?

Please, everyone needs to stop changing cords, ports, and anything. The issue is the Roku period. To get a picture back, you just need to break the HDMI connection in some way. Power cycle TV or restart the Roku is the easiest way. They need to fix it with an update. Stop sending your Roku information as at this point, they're not looking at it

Disable power saver mode on your Roku devices and you won’t see the HDCP error anymore.
