It has to go to the email address that's used by your Roku user account. If her email address isn't the one on your Roku account, then it won't work.

I timed out on my activation for my account set up. How do I reset?
Try unplugging the power and plugging it back in.

I am still experiencing this same issue!
Same problem this morning, tried multiple times, factory reset this Roku Ultra multiple times - it has internet access, it was able to update firmware no problem. From my researching it looks like the Roku activation system going down is a frequent occurrence. Paid almost $100 for a device I cannot use, pretty bad way to start a customer relationship, NOT IMPRESSED!!!!
edit: seconds after my message posted to the community, I received an email from Roku stating “earned the First Reply! badge on Roku Community”! So I guess I can’t watch TV with the Roku, but I can sit here on the message board and just talk about it!
