i am going to try my switch again. the issue with the switch was each time you switched between two devices the tv wanted to try and "identify" the source again. so it could associate a name to it. i think i read somewhere on a Samsung forum if that pops up just hit exit. i will give it a try. thanks for the help.
there is nothing wrong with the roku itself. it works fine when connected directly to the hdmi on the tv. the issue is three hdmi devices and two ports. on my older samsung tv we used a switch. with this tv it tries to "identify the source" each time you hit the switch. i think i read where you can bypass that by hitting exit. any other suggestions?
HDMI to USB port adapters are designed to send a video signal OUT of the USB port from a COMPUTER. Many laptops support video out via a USB port. But for a TV to accept video into a USB port requires hardware the TV simply doesn’t have. There’s no adapter in existance that can make that work.
Thanks for keeping us posted, @kingraybo.

This seems to be a compatibility issue with your HDMI switch, as you clearly state that the Roku works when connected directly to the TV's HDMI input. Have you tried switching the two devices, your PlayStation and Verizon, to the HDMI switcher and transferring the Roku device directly to the TV's HDMI port to see if it makes any difference?
Let us know how this works.
Thanks,
Emman
What happens if you connect the Roku directly to the TV and put the other two on the switch?
