Re: Roku Express set up - connecting roku to power kills the tv

1.  Have consistently used old cord and power adapter with old Roku Express and new cord and power adapter for new Roku Express.

2.  With HdMI disconnected from Samsung tv, plugging both Old and New Roku express into power caused no interruption of TV power.  When either Old or New roku express HDMI cable was connected to tv, tv power instantly cut off.  Disconnecting HDMI from tv restored tv power.

@Lukie   Are you using the same HDMI cable for both the old and new Express?  If you have another HDMI cable try that with both the old and new Roku Express.

@Lukie

See if disabling the HDMI Autodetect feature does anything (disable AnyNet+) using your Samsung remote.

It seems the TV is entering protection mode each time the Roku HDMI is plugged in.

@Lukie

Perhaps one of three possible locations depending on interface..

1. Settings/System/Anynet+

2. Settings/General/External Device Manager/Anynet+/

3. Settings/System/Expert Settings/Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)

Any of the above available to you?

@Lukie   On my Samsung about the same age, go to menu, system, and then scroll to the bottom of the page.  Anynet control does not show on main page.

Re: Roku Express set up - connecting roku to power kills the tv

@Lukie

Try this:

1) Connect any/all Rokus you want to use with THIS TV to the OTHER TV, and do the following steps for each.

2) Manually configure Display type:  Settings/Display type = 1080p TV (do NOT use Auto)

3) Disable Automatic recovery:  Home 5x, Down, Left, Up 3x (using your remote buttons), select "Disable Automatic Recovery"

4) Disable 1-Touch Play:  Settings/System/Control other devices/1-touch play = unchecked

5) Disconnect from OTHER TV, reconnect to THIS TV - try again
