Hello 

I have one question. Is it possible to update the software version 2.4.4 to 3.0.44 or 3.0.52 on a M1001? The update via remote control doesnt work. But that is known. Exists a software which make it possible, that I can update the M1001 via network cable and update file flashcardupdate30 on a laptop, which I can use for the update of the M400? The update of my M400 works great with that sd card file, but my favorites are my 12 M1001 🙂 Somehow I'm addicted to the M1001 🙂

The only reason because I will update the 2.4.4 version is, that the WLAN code of the 2.4.4 version accepts only 13 letters and numbers. I think thats a "problem" of the 2.4.4. If an update is not possible I can change the WLAN code to less 13 characters in my router. I think that works, but I have more than 50 peaces of WLAN devices, so it is a hard work to change that all 50 WLAN codes in the devices.

It looks like that product has been discontinued for some time now, so it is unlikely you can update the firmware past what is/was available on the website for that model when it was last updated.  I couldn't even find a page for the firmware, so I assume that even the firmware pages have been taken offline. 

You could go to your settings and check for an update that way and see if you have any updates for the device that you may have missed, but it is unlikely you will be able to update to any current firmware and if the legacy firmware page is offline, then I am afraid it might be impossible, unless you can find a firmware archive page someplace.

Once a Roku device is considered "legacy" it no longer receives OS updates, and apps often no longer work. The N1101 (Roku HD-XR, Roku has never used an M model number and there was no N1001) was released in Oct 2009, so is now 15 years old and hasn't been supported in a very long time. No, there is no way to update the OS, and it's likely that few if any apps still work on a device that old. That is a 1st generation Roku, and they are now on their 11th generation. The changes that have occurred in that time span are enormous, and it would be impossible to run the latest OS on such old and slow hardware. 

EDIT: OK, I see the M1001 is the Soundbridge music streamer. It's even older than the model I mentioned above. But the answer is still the same. No, it's impossible to update the OS on such an old device.
