Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community, @Beffers22!
I appreciate you for bringing this to our attention.
In this case, I will coordinate this with our Support team for additional reinforcement. I will reach out to you via Private Message to gather further details, such as the email address associated with your Roku account and the serial number of the Roku device to which this troubled remote is connected.
In the meantime, your continuous patience and understanding are highly appreciated as we work on this.
Bets regards,
Carly
I have 3 of these remotes and all three of then are doing the same thing. Won't hold a charge, turn off immediately upon unplugging, and have to stay plugged in to charge. That's almost $100 I've spent on remotes that now are basically useless and have become wired tv remotes. This helps with not losing them since they're tether to an outlet in order to be used. It's also annoying because the battery level pop-up box continuously pops up while the remote is plugged in. As soon as it's unplugged from a power source it stops. I've had these remotes going on 2 years and all 3 went down at the same time. I won't be giving any more money for new ones since it seems it's still a problem. I've done all the prompts to "fix" the problem but shocker they're all still broken.
Welcome, and thank you for posting here in the Roku Community, @itsdranotdria!
Thank you for letting us know about the issues you've encountered with your Roku Voice Remote Pro. I want to help you find the best resolution for this.
Can you please try to reset all of the affected remotes by pressing and holding the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds? After doing so, pair the remote again and try charging it using a different cord to see if this will make any difference.
Furthermore, to confirm, did you purchase these remotes separately, or is this the remote that comes with your Roku players?
Your response is highly anticipated.
Best regards,
Carly
My rechargeable remote pro won't work unless plugged in. I checked the community posts and there is a similar post that says resolved when you reset the remote but actually that doesn't work because it is as if the remote is practically dead unless you plug it in.
Is it the rechargeable battery inside that is bad? When I plug it in, it works perfectly and shows 100% charged on the TV screen but doesn't work when unplugged.
Never having had this problem with my several Voice Remote Pros, I don't really know if this will help, but have you tried restarting the Roku being used with this remote?
These things are just special purpose computers. Like their big brothers sometimes clearing things out by restarting them can correct problems. (For Roku TV users reading this: if you have "Fast TV start" enabled, turning it off and back on just puts it into and out of a standby state and does NOT give you a complete restart.)
Depending on your Roku model you'll find the "System restart" option under "Settings > System > Power", or on models without a Power option, under "Settings > System".
If a restart doesn't do it, or if you don't have sufficient control with the remote to navigate the Roku menus, you can also restart by pulling the power plug to the Roku for a few seconds then plugging it back in and waiting for it to restart.
That solution is not a solution but a recommendation to try a different power/charge cord. I’ve had a Roku TV for less than a month and am experiencing the same issue as this user — remote will work when plugged into power source but does not work when unplugged. Tester charging on two separate USB cords and sources. Please advise.
I have had this exact same issue with the remote! I followed all troubleshooting suggestions and nothing is fixing the remote. It will tell me that it is 92% battery life but then when replugged in, it will say 0% battery, then replug again and now it’s at 100%. Pairing won’t work. Unplugged Roku stick, that didn’t work. Switched outlets, that didn’t change anything.
Welcome to the Roku Community, @Christina311!
I understand that you're having issues with your rechargeable remote, and I'd be happy to help you find the best resolution.
I see that you have a Roku streaming stick linked to your account. Did you purchase this Roku Voice Remote Pro separately? If so, may I know when and where? Also, can you confirm which edition you are having this issue with? You may check here:
Furthermore, I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far, and I would like to suggest some more. Try resetting your remote by pressing and holding the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds. After doing so, pair it again and try to charge it to see if this will make any difference.
If the issue persists, can you also try to charge it using a different cord?
Your update is highly anticipated.
Best regards,
Carly

I have a Roku Pro replacement remote that will not work within being attached to the charging cable. I tried it with two different cables for more than 4 hours or more each. I had to throw a Roku system away because it was no longer supported, now this. What seems to be wrong with ROKU equipment. Might be my last time purchasing the brand, might be awhile since I have them in four rooms. Can anyone help me?
