Voice Remote Pro private listening wired headphones audio keeps cutting in and out

Jump to solution

I have a Roku Ultra with a Voice Remote Pro. When I use wired headphones plugged into the remote for private listening, the audio cuts in and out every 10-20 seconds, and it will also disconnect and reconnect every minute or so. This started happening within the past few days. This is the fourth remote I’ve had to get replaced in the last 8 months. Why are these remotes so terrible? And is there any way to fix this issue with the audio? It’s very distracting and frustrating

Welcome to the Roku Community, @pjsvndsn!

We see that you're having an issue with your Roku remote. We are here to assist you. To get started, we recommend the following to help you with this.

Note: Audio for Headphone Mode uses the same wireless network as other devices in your home, it is possible that traffic to/from other devices on the network is impacting the quality of the audio. While using Headphone Mode, ensure no other devices on the wireless network are downloading or streaming music or video.

If you use your Roku remote for Headphone Mode, try moving closer to your Roku device, as you may be out of range.

If you are still having audio problems, try the following:

  1. Unplug the power from your Roku device.
  2. Check the headphones to see if they are securely connected by removing and firmly reinserting them.
  3. Check that your headphones work appropriately by listening to them on another device.
  4. Restart your router by unplugging the power cable from the router, waiting 10 seconds, and reconnecting. If possible, check the instructions from your ISP or router vendor, as restarting may require that you press a reset button on the device. This will momentarily disconnect your Roku device and your mobile device from the network. Wait a few minutes while your router re-establishes the internet connection.
  5. Reconnect the power cable to your Roku device.

We would recommend trying to see if that resolves your issue. Please keep us posted.

Thanks,
Jharra
