I've had my Roku TV for a while now and I lost the remote around a few months after I first got it. Fortunately, I've always been able to use the remote app on my phone to work the TV. But a few days ago, I disconnected my TV from the internet to make the wifi connection on my phone better. Now I can't control it at all as the remote control app needs to be on the same wifi network as the TV to work and I can't use the phone remote to reconnect it since it won't work now. Is there anything I can do?
It is my understanding that the Roku TVs need the remote for setup purposes, so most likely you will need your remote.
I'm kind of guessing because I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "I disconnected my TV from the internet".
But if you haven't factory reset the TV, or changed it to some "other" SSID, then you could set the SSID and password of the Wi-Fi at the router to be exactly the same as what it was before and then your TV should just connect to it as if nothing has changed.
I would still recommend getting a remote for the longer-term though.
Hi, @conor0460
Welcome!
I understand your concern that you are unable to navigate on your Roku TV due to a lost remote and recent changes on your network, and I'm here to help.
As advised by our fellow Roku Community users in this thread, it will be best to purchase a new Roku TV remote since the Roku mobile app will no longer control the TV once both devices are not connected to the same network.
To purchase the remote, you can visit this link: Roku TV Remote
I hope this will be sorted out soon, and keep us posted if you have further concerns or clarifications.
Thanks,
Roku Community Team.
Try this RCA UNIVERSAL REMOTE (model # RCRN06GBE). It's what I use.
