The remote has been sliding all over the place the last few days

Jump to solution

Whether using provided Roku remote or a universal remote, moving around the interface directionally while in any app results in sliding additional spaces.  So if I press right on the directional pad once, it will slide 2 or 3 spaces instead.  This has been happening for a few days now.  I looked on Twitter and Reddit and multiple other people are reporting similar issues as well.

So far Max, Peacock & Tubi are the apps I've seen it happen on.

Tried: Resetting everything, updating everything, new batteries, new remote, different remote
Model: Roku 4 Ultra

Hi @verseone,

Thanks for the post and for letting us know about this. Have you tried using the Roku mobile app as a remote and then trying again to see if that results in the same behavior?

For more information on how to use it, visit our support page here: How to use the Roku® mobile app to control your Roku device without a remote.

Regards,

Me too!!! Just started yesterday on Spectrum but it is doing it on Netflix, Peacock, & Paramount too! Spectrum told me that it is a Roku problem and gave me the phone number for customer support which isn't for this issue. And then coming here to the forums I see that you and I are not the only two people experiencing this. But yet there's still no response in the comments from Roku and there's no way to get ahold of someone. And just like you I've already run through all of Roku's suggestions, and none of those work to change it either. It's as if they reprogrammed something for the remotes or their guides without any thought of the end user.

I too am having this  problem - it's like playing Russian Roulette to get it to stop on the program I want to watch - tried paring everything but no luck - all my other apps work find just the Roku channel and the Up Faith & Family programs I want to watch - very frustrating!

Hulu  is also skipping. Changed batteries too and still doing it. Is the remote or the device you plug into TV bad. Need answers, getting tired of the skipping.
