Roku stick connected to display-remote volume control?

Hello! I have a Roku 4K Streaming stick connected to a 40” Seiki Pro SM40UNP display. The display is capable of 4K via DP1.2 but HDMI is only 1.4. Found out setting it to “manual” 4K HDR doesn’t prevent HDCP 2.2 errors. I can deal with this though.

My issue now is control of volume with the Roku remote; I have a pair of computer speakers hooked up to the display via its headphone out jack. It does supply audio but is not controllable via the Roku remote. Is there a way to get this to work? Thanks in advance!

Re: Roku stick connected to display-remote volume control?

Hi, @adiaz7531.

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community.

We'd be more than happy to provide further information about this.

The remote only works with TVs using IR codes and cannot control sound bars or AV receivers. If your TV and sound bar support CEC control, the Roku remote might control the volume through that method, but not through IR.

Here's our support article to help you set this up: How to set up your Roku voice remote to control your TV

You may visit this Community post for further information about this case: Set up Roku 4K Stick to control volume of external soundbar.

I hope you find this information helpful.
Best regards,
Carly
