Roku Remote does not function properly.

Jump to solution

I started having the same problem a few days ago. If I start up Paramount+, Hulu, or PBS and press the down arrow button, it scrolls anywhere from 2 to 5 items at a time - never just the next one. I've unplugged the Ruko for over a minute and plugged it back in, to no avail. I don't see how to open the remote to remove the batteries - it's rechargeable via a USB connection to the Roku.

Hi @mairzy-doats,

Warm welcome here in the Roku Community.

Thanks for posting about your concern regarding the remote trouble you've experienced. Have you tried performing a system restart to see if it resolves the skipping selection issue? If not, we recommend performing it by navigating to Settings > System > Power (skip if no sub-menu) > System Restart. After this, kindly check to see if you notice any difference.

Additionally, we'd like to know if what Roku remote you recently purchased. Is it a Roku simple remote, or a Roku voice remote?

Let us know.

All the best,
Kash

Hi, @kevanjosh,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

We understand you are having problems with your remote. We would be happy to look further into this issue, but we need more details. Can you please provide us with the following information:

  • Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
  • Does this issue occur on a specific channel? If so, what channel and what version or build is it? (This can be found by selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button.)
  • Tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times, and provide us with this ID).
  • Steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing

If the problem persists, please let us know.

Best regards,

John

No solutin found.  This jsut started happening. No new devices, lights, leds, etc. Always wthing late night.

Roku remote model: RC-FA1  Serial: 3226001105

Device id on Settings as you instruct says 674869ZZZF9-6E27-48DE-A2D4-E4125116CCD4.

I SHOULD SAY I DO NOT HAVE A SMART TV. iT IS AN OLD TV WITH ROKU DEVICE ATTACHED.

Settings Software Os/Version: OS Build 19045.3448

This scrolling multiple times, jumping several episodes in the list, happens only with the series called The New Detetives.  Everything else is ok.

I bought a new remote, and it doen't work at all. Won't turn on power.  I have new batteries in both the old and the new remotes.
