I lost my remote control was gonna get a replacement but I may as well just buy the whole unit an all again why wait for remote in mail? An why do they cost so much I doesn't make any sense for just a standard remote. Just seems easier this way less hassle an I have one same day. Thanks "Confused"
You should be thankful of the cost nowadays for oem remotes, back 80's & 90's the standard cost for original remote was $200!!!
I can't explain the economics of it, but consider this: do you want to be the kind of person responsible for producing extra e-waste not to save money but just to make a point to a faceless corporation?
Yeah, I remember the price of a replacement VCR remote in the 80s being around $200, and the cheap third-party remote could be had for just $89. But if you put those prices into an inflation calculator, they are $566 and $252 in today’s dollars.
you can write it as
Hey everyone,
I recently lost the remote control for my [insert device here], and while I was planning to get a replacement, I’m now considering just buying a whole new unit. The cost of a replacement remote seems quite high for just a standard remote, and waiting for it to arrive in the mail feels like a hassle.
Has anyone else faced this dilemma? Does it make more sense to just buy a new unit instead of replacing the remote? I’d love to hear your thoughts or any tips on this situation!
Thanks!
You should be grateful of the cost of replacement remotes nowadays, in 80's and throughout the 90's the standard price of replacement oem remote was over $200!!! That was for tv's, Vcr's and AVR remote replacements.
