We just returned from a 6 day trip and when we left, the bedroom TV was fine but the living room TV was occasionally hard to turn on but nothing consistent. Now that we are back, neither TV works as it's supposed to. The living room TV will not do anything via the remotes. The bedroom TV turns on on the 3rd try but the only other buttons that work are the volume. The arrows and enter button are dead. The thought maybe the remotes were switched buy now if I switch them, nothing work. The TV in the crafts room seems to be ok. It has it's remote box as a small box with a less functionable remote. The curcuit breaker was tripped and they may have had some slight weather but we weren;y here and the neighbors aren't talking about a big lightening crash or anything. Any ideas??
I have a voice actuated remote but I never use the voice part. I was mistaken about one detail I said. The TV in the living room is fine. It works perfectly. Do the remotes send identical signals? In other words if the remotes are the same model as each other, which they are, can I use a remote on either TV or are they paired to only one TV? The bad remote will only turn on and run the volume on either TV. Nothing more. I should try the known good remote (now chewed up by our dog but still working fine) on the bedroom TV. I think I have and it didn't work as I recall. I have reset batteries in the remote but am wondering if there is a reset on the TV receiver side. I have powered off the HDMI plug more than once with no change. What else could I do? It appears it broke white we were gone which doesn't make sense.
This has gone from crazy to weird. The main TV reverted back to being useless even not powering on when using the power switch on the TV. Then the bedroom TV became magically responsive this morning. Suddenly everything works. I have NO IDEA what is going on but these two TV's are on the opposite sides of the wall from each other and I suspect that are on the same circuit. I had flipped the breaker for the circuit as the main TV had become inoperational and the TV became working again. My theory is here that there is something wrong with that circuit have an idea there is a loose wire at a plug or something. I am going to call in an electrician to check that circuit and the circuit breaker. I have had limited trouble with that circuit before so now things are starting to make sense, something loose must be taxing the circuit and breaking down something somewhere. I'll check it out.
