Welcome to the Roku Community, @Sullenpandabear!

We appreciate you reaching out for support, and we'd be happy to help you fix your Roku remote.

Before we proceed, kindly provide us with additional details such as follows:

  • What specific Roku model are you trying to pair this remote to?
  • Is this the remote that came with this device? If not, kindly specify what specific remote this is. You may also check our support article to learn how to identify your Roku remote
  • When did you start having this issue? Can you see blinking lights when you press random buttons on your remote?

In the meantime, you may refer to the troubleshooting steps provided to help you:

If your voice remote uses standard AA or AAA alkaline batteries, you can reboot it by removing and reinstalling the batteries.

  1. Remove the battery cover on the back of your remote
  2. Remove both batteries from the battery compartment
  3. Re-insert the negative (-) end of a battery first and then gently push the positive (+) end until the battery clicks into place
  4. Repeat the previous step to install the second battery
  5. Put the battery cover back on your remote.

If your voice remote has a rechargeable battery, follow the steps below below to reboot your remote.

  • If your rechargeable voice remote has a pairing button, press and hold the pairing button on the back of the remote for 20 seconds.
  • If your rechargeable voice remote does not have a pairing button, press and hold the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds.

Check for available software updates:

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Select System
  3. Select System update
  4. Select Check now

For additional information and steps, we have a support article dedicated to How to fix your Roku voice remote that is not working.

Just checking all the issues with the Roku Ultra rechargeable remote in the Roku community. It's on sale at a great price right at THE SOURCE in Canada (8/16/24) now and these issues are probably why. I'll stick my flawless streaming stick 4k. I was about to go and buy it but this made it easy not to.

Roku has a fantastic interface. Unfortunately they can't get these remote issues under control and continue to provide the same basic troubleshooting advice, further frustrating their customers, rather than admitting they have a problem and will or are working to address it.  They must be making bank on remote sales, but I can't be the only one on my 5th or 6th device and regretfully, won't be getting another.
