The buttons on my remote suddenly began to perform incorrect functions; e.g. the 'pause' button causes Roku to exit what I'm watching and jump to Amazon Prime, Other buttons also perform incorrect functions. I've replaced the batteries in the remote and reset the Roku. My Roku and the remote are older, but I've never had any problems with them. I've seen similar problems posted but no solutions other than what I've done. Anyone have a solution that works?
Your device/remote firmware may have recently updated.
You didnt mention your Roku model # and firmware version: Settings/System/About
You also didnt mention your remote model # or firmware version: Settings/Remotes & devices/Remotes/<remote name> (In Use)/About
All of that information is important.
You said you "reset the Roku" - was that a Restart, a Network Connection Reset, or a Factory Reset?
Try checking for updates: Settings/System/System updates/Check now
The Roku Model is 4200X - Roku 3; Version 10.0.0 - Build 4209-04 (no mention of firmware) It was last updated 6/30
Remote RC19; Firmware 2.01.08.216
Yes, a Restart. I did check for updates. It's currently running the latest version,
Thanks for the posts.
If you are still experiencing an issue with your remote, can you please provide the serial number of your Roku device from Settings>System>About? I'll be able to assist you further from there.
Thanks,
Danny
@RokuDanny-R may be able to assist you further/better.
In the meantime, you might try re-pairing your remote to see if that addresses the issue.
Thanks Streamer. I've contacted Danny.
@RokuDanny-R I have a similar issue, almost identical specs:
The Roku Model is 4200X - Roku 3; Version 10.0.0 - Build 4208-04 (no mention of firmware) It was last updated Dec 4.
Remote RC19; Firmware 2.01.08.216
I too restarted and checked for updates.
EDIT: Factory reset roku and now cannot pair the remote at all....(no pairing light on remote) and have tried all versions of down/up powering remote and device...Looks like a broken remote.
Batts
@Anonymous
There's pairing light its under the blue button on the front of the remote.
@Anonymous a Roku 3 is very old and outdated. Your OS version is outdated. It would be best to purchase a new Roku device
@Tivoburkee I meant...the pairing light does not illuminate
