Re: Recharging Roku voice Remote Pro without Charging Cable.

I have the same problem. I use headphones quite a bit and it sucks the life out of the remote. But the female socket on the remote won’t seat the plug securely and so it wobbles while plugged in and charging is compromised. Why can’t we just remove the rechargeable batteries and put in standard batteries? I’d gladly pay the price of batteries just to keep from dealing with that lousy charging cable. Come on Roku! Make it happen!!

Because people would put alkaline batteries in the remote, and then plug in the charging cable. Possible fire, so you don't want that to happen. If you really want a remote that you just change the batteries, you can buy the standard Voice Remote from most stores that sell Roku products, as well as direct order from Roku. It's no problem to pair a different WiFi remote to your Roku.

Re: Recharging Roku voice Remote Pro without Charging Cable.

This goes back to my suggestion about the need for a Charging Cradle for Roku Rechargeable remotes. Even though I only own Roku battery powered remotes, I can understand your dilemma. I have seen your situation on many devices, mostly laptops, where the power connection is used repeatedly, I would have to believe that especially due to the small size of the Roku remote, over time, the plug-in on the remote can become worn and loose causing a poor or no recharge connection. Aside from forgetting to charge the remote, your situation is one of the reasons why I suggested the need for a Charging Cradle for Roku remotes. Yes, there would be a need for a redesign, and it may reduce portability but in the end, I think Roku would have been much better off strategically if had just gone straight to the Charging Cradle rather than to the corded plug-in.  The only rechargeable remote I have is an old Logitech Harmony One remote which has a charging cradle. I have had that remote for more than 12 years and I have never had a remote charging problem. The charging cradle is always located in the same place, and it is designed such that just dropping the remote into the cradle automatically establishes the charging connection.

You say that the cable end that goes into the remote has to go in in a particular way.  What is that way? I can't get it to connect at all with the supplied cable or any other charging cable. Something seems to be blocking complete insertion.

Re: Recharging Roku voice Remote Pro without Charging Cable.

@pburgkid if you look at the cable end, you will see that the plug is not quite symmetrical, with one edge being slightly longer than the other. The jack in the remote will have a matching size/shape, and it will only fit in when properly aligned. If you can't insert the cable in any way, look at both ends (the cable and the remote) and ensure there's no obstruction, such as a dust ball or other contaminant.
