Pro 2 Remote Hands Free Turns Off and On by Itself

Jump to solution

Hello,

I bought the Pro 2 remote late last month with no issues but in the past few days I’ve been noticing issues. I don’t use the hands free option so I have the button turned off but when I pick up the remote it will beep and pop up on the screen that the feature has been turned on and off over and over again and it’s getting worse like five or six times until I put it down. I notice when I squeeze the remote it happens reliably as well, the battery indicator on the screen also shows sometimes although not often. I’ve tried forgetting the remote and pairing it multiple times but the problem still persists and immediately after I pair again it’ll show on screen and beep. Also, if I turn the button to the on position it does not turn the feature off no matter what I do or even squeeze the remote.

is there a way of updating the remote or is this a hardware issue? My Roku is also up to date at 13.0.0 build 24056-46

Welcome to the Roku Community, @sweetinator88!

We understand that you're experiencing an issue with your Roku remote, and we'd like to help you. To assist you better, could you please let us know which Roku TV or player your remote is paired with? Additionally, is this the original remote that came with your device?

We also suggest resetting your Roku remote by pressing and holding the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds. After doing so, pair it again.

In the meantime, you may install the Roku mobile app as an alternative to your physical remote. This works well with your Roku streaming device, which has a voice command feature.

Let us know how it goes and we'll go from there.

Best regards,
Jharra

My Pro 2 remote does the exact same thing, it's incredibly infuriating! It will also randomly just go "dead" while I'm watching a show, (not the battery) I pick it up to hit pause and nothing happens, so then I hit every single button on the remote and it's like the signal has been lost or something, I have to jam on the buttons to eventually get it to "wake up" or reconnect, to finally pause or whatever.

I love Roku products, or at least the ones I've had in the past, but I just upgraded my remotes to the Pro and Pro 2. The Pro seems to work fine, and I bought that one since it still has a headphone jack, we use them all the time. I have one Pro 2 that I got before I realized it didn't have a headphone jack, and it's the only one with these stupid problems.
