Ok so I've had this remote ever since I got my 32" TCL Roku TV and has worked absolutely perfect, I've even had to re-pair a few times for various reasons (none having to do with the remote not working properly) and did so without any trouble. So I recently bought a 55" TCL Roku TV from someone on marketplace. When I got home I plugged it up and the remote worked on the TV right away (having already been paired with my other TCL TV) without a hitch. I noticed that the previous owners didn't reset the device before they sold it so went into the settings and did a factory reset without any trouble. However after it reset it took me to the choose your language screen and my remote no longer worked. I've tried resetting the remote and TV but nothing seems to help. The remote still connects to my 32" one without any issues so I don't understand what could be wrong? Please help
You bought a used TV, it may be broken in it doesn't accept IR commands. It maybe the reason original owner got rid of it? You can get a true Roku Wifi voice remote from Walmart and see if this tv can at least pair with wifi remote. Cost of of wifi remote is either $20 or $30 at Walmart, Amazon or Roku website. Any thing cheaper is an IR remote too, which you TV has problems with.
The remote was working on it until I reset the device.
@n8rthagr8r, I'd still suspect the TV. Can you get any response out of the TV if you get right on top it? The IR receiver is usually right next to the light on the front of the TV. You can also see how strong a signal the remote is sending by pointing it at a digital camera like the one in your phone. The brighter the flash/glow coming from the end of the remote when you press button the stronger the signal. There's not much else you can do since there's no way to roll back an update and if it was a common problem we'd be seeing more reports. Does the remote have other TCL codes you can try?
