This is such a disappointment. I have the remote with headphone jack in my bedroom and I love it. I don't charge my phone in my bedroom, so linking direct to the remote is a better option for me. I do use the phone app for my living room tv - which is fine, but if my screen goes dark - it disconnects the private listening mode. I like to listen to the news while getting ready for work but when the screen closes on my phone, the earbuds go silent. If I'm in the kitchen, I have to run back to wherever my phone is and wake it up because it kicks it out of headphone mode. Pretty annoying - especially because it seems to do it just at the moment of something I really want to hear on the news.
I was looking for another headphone jack remote and was having difficulty finding it - now I know why. I wanted it so I could remedy my morning ritual problem by inserting earbuds and just putting it in my pocket while I walk around the house. I saw someone posted a link to the old version. I hurried and bought it while I could. Crossing my fingers that the correct model is delivered. I hope this is reimplemented in future remotes.

I have noticed several people and Roku "verified officials", etc. recommending that you can still buy the original Roku remote that has a headphone jack. I guess they sold out of this popular item, as it is no longer offered on Roku's product page. Up until recently you could still get it on Roku's Amazon Store for $80 to $100 bucks - this must mean it has reached collector's item status and the price will continue to rise as it becomes rarer and rarer when it's only available on Ebay.
But wait, there's hope - Roku invites customer feedback for product development! So please, Roku, listen to your customers and come out with a third edition and include a headphone plug-in! If you need it to be a USB type, that's not ideal but it's OK, but place it on the side as you did with your previous model - that's the best way to keep it from easily unplugging with normal use.
Thank you for keeping us informed, @ComedyAddict.
We appreciate your valuable feedback on our Roku remote and want you to know that we will definitely forward your comments to the relevant team for their consideration. My phone weighs exactly 3X what my Roku remote weighs. That's a difference that matters!
The Gen 3 of the Voice Remote Pro needs to offer wired headphone capability. To do this the remote should be designed with the USB C port having audio capability as well as charging capability (my Samsung A53 phone does this).
I bought a $7 adapter cable with a male USB C connection on one end and a female 3.5 mm audio connection on the other. Using this I can listen to audio on my phone with wired headphones.
Roku can sell the adapter cables in your online store!
Absolutely! Instead of the headphone jack, enabling the USB-C port to have both "charging" and "wired audio out" capability will be FANTASTIC!! This will keep the remote lighter/efficient without the headphone jack and yet give some users the opportunity to use wired audio through the remote. Also gives Roku the ability to sell "USB-C to 3.5mm" adapters and monetize.
