Picture froze and remote not working

Jump to solution

My picture froze. Then remote not working. Installed two new AAA Energizer batteries and reset Roku stick and got home screen but remote still would not work. Installed two other new Energizer batteries and reset stick. Still did not work.  A couple of days later, I reset the Roku stick again and reinstalled the original Roku batteries and got everything working again.

Any ideas why the Energized batteries did not work???

Hi, @jactrac, welcome to the Roku Community!

Thank you for bringing the issue with your Roku remote batteries to our attention. We are here to assist you.

To begin, could you please try resetting the remote?

Resetting your Roku remote by pressing and holding the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds

After performing a factory reset, please attempt to pair your remote by following the steps below:

  • If your voice remote has a pairing button, it will be located either on the back of the remote or under the battery cover. Press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds, or until you see the status light begin to flash, to put your voice remote into pairing mode.
  • If your voice remote does not have a pairing button, press and hold the Back and Home buttons for 5 seconds or until you see the status light begin to flash.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,
Jharra
