My TV is powered off and my remote is broken!!

I have a Hisense tv with a separate Roku device. When I pressed the rewind the tv went off. The light on my Roku device and the sync light on the remote is off. How do I fix this?

Re: My TV is powered off and my remote is broken!!

Greetings from the Roku Community, @KNichols1966!

Thank you for letting us know about the issues you've encountered with the button responses of your physical Roku remote. We're here to suggest some troubleshooting steps to help you.

Could you please confirm if this is the remote that came with your Roku Ultra? If so, let's try to reboot it by following the steps provided below:

Reboot your remote

If your voice remote uses standard AA or AAA alkaline batteries, you can reboot it by removing and reinstalling the batteries.

  1. Remove the battery cover on the back of your remote
  2. Remove both batteries from the battery compartment
  3. Re-insert the negative (-) end of a battery first and then gently push the positive (+) end until the battery clicks into place
  4. Repeat the previous step to install the second battery
  5. Put the battery cover back on your remote

Reboot your streaming device

Use the following steps to restart your streaming device.

  1. Remove the power cable from your streaming device
  2. Wait at least 5 seconds
  3. Re-connect the power cable
  4. Wait for your streaming device to power and the Home screen to appear on your TV.
  5. Once you see the Home screen, try to use your remote to control your device

Replace the batteries in your voice remote.

If your voice remote uses standard batteries, use the following steps to replace the batteries in your voice remote with a new matching pair.

  1. Locate a new matching pair of batteries
  2. Remove the battery cover on the back of your remote
  3. Remove both batteries from the battery compartment
  4. Insert the negative (-) end of the new battery and then gently push the positive (+) end until the battery clicks into place
  5. Repeat the previous step to install the second battery
  6. Put the battery cover back on your remote.
