What if your new remote is not a voice activated, how do you pair it
What remote did you get? For example the Roku Simple Remotes (and most third-party remotes) are IR remotes. As such there is no pairing - just point in the direction of the receiver. (These can't be used with Roku Sticks and need a clear line of sight.)
The only remote that is not voice enabled is the basic IR remote. IR remotes do not need pairing, as they simply emit IR signals that any Roku player will receive and respond to. Except for one exception: every version of a Roku Stick will NOT work with an IR remote. They must have a WiFi Direct remote, and those are all the Voice remotes. Also be aware that the first versions of the Roku Stick (a stick connects directly to a TV without using an HDMI cable) will not work with the current Voice Remotes. So if you have a model 3500 Stick (purple case) or older, there are no remotes available for that model.
