I accidentally hit the “microphone” button on the remote for my Roku Ultra, and I can’t get it to turn off and stop reading text aloud while scrolling through YouTube, for example. Tried to reach Roku online, but after 45 minutes of getting a “we’re busy, we’ll connect you when we can” robo-message every 3 minutes, I had to give up. Any tips on this problem? Is there a phone number I can call (that ISN’T a scam)? Please help… thanks.
Sure this isn't the Screen Reader feature?
Try pressing the remote's * button 4 times in quick succession to toggle it off/on.
To deactivate the four-* trigger shortcut altogether use menu path Settings > Accessibility > Shortcut (in the Screen Reader section) > Disabled
I use YouTube on my Roku Ultra A LOT! Yesterday I accidentally hit the “microphone” button on the remote for my Roku Ultra. Since then, whenever I fast-forward or -reverse, or switch to a different YouTube window, the Roku Ultra starts reading whatever text is on screen, or it tells me wherever I am in time on the track of the video, all in a miserable AI voice. I can mute it, but — of course — that mutes the content of what I’m watching through the Roku, which is OBVIOUSLY not a solution. I even tried the “click the remote’s ‘microphone’ on-off button 4 times in quick succession” and that did nothing. So, thinking I may have missed something, I tried doing the same on-off 4 times with the remote’s POWER button. STILL nothing. I’ve tried turning power off, to the extent of removing the Roku Ultra remote’s power cord and all connections — HDMI and wired Ethernet — then powering it up again and reattaching all connections.I’ve been a Roku customer since the very first version, and I’ve had few problems, until NOW. I’d rather not move to a different streaming solution, but if this can’t be fixed, that’s what I’m going to have to do. Please help.

@bartonbrown that is not the microphone doing anything. You have accidentally activated the Screen Reader function. As @makaiguy mentioned, pressing the * button (not the mic or power button) 4 times quickly will toggle the reader function on and off. You can disable it completely in the Settings/Accessibility menu.
