Squeak sound while watching a show

Jump to solution

Every once in a while but several times a week, we hear a squeaking sound from all of our Rokus when the tvs are on.
It sounds similar to the sound a smoke detector makes when the battery is low.
it is NOT coming from the remotes.   Can you explain this?

Hello! @Terrybeads,

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community!

We appreciate your contacting us regarding your Roku device's Squek sound issue. We are pleased to assist.

  • How is your Roku device connected to your TV?
  • Is your Roku device connected to an Audio/Video Receiver?
  • Is your Roku device connected to the TV USB port for power?

system restart is the least invasive reset method. If you have a Roku TV, it is not the same as pressing the power button on the remote or the physical power button on the TV itself. Instead, a system restart is performed by removing the power cord from your Roku device for at least 10 seconds before plugging it back in. If reaching the power cord is inconvenient, you can also use the instructions below to perform a system restart from the Settings menu (assuming you can control your Roku device with the remote or the free Roku mobile app for iOS® or Android).

  1. Press Home on your Roku remote

  2. Scroll and select Settings
  3. Select System
  4. Select Power. If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.
  5. Select System restart

In either case, your Roku device will complete a system restart and hopefully return to normal operation after a moment.

Thanks,
Arjiemar
