@prudentpatriot

First, it is possible to add a non-certified app. However, there are restrictions on that.

The previous non-certified app repository no longer exists. Back in October 2021, Roku announced publicly that the non-certified app process as it existed was being discontinued. All app developers had 120 days to code the apps to standard and to submit for certification.

Those that did, and were certified, had their apps moved into the Channel Store. Those that didn't code their apps to standard and submit for certification had their apps removed.

The process for adding non-certified apps is available for adding Beta apps. If you have a code for a beta app, meaning you're part of a beta test group, you can use the page and process to add it to your Roku devices. Even if you're not part of a beta group, if you obtain a code, you can add it. However, you take up a beta slot when you do that. There are only a limited number of users for each beta app.

If you can't find a code for a particular app, that's probably because there either is no app, or they aren't making it first-come, first-served, but rather only giving them to beta testers.

Hey @tschechinger

Thanks for the post.

For clarification, are you unable to add the app to your channel lineup or the app won't open? Could you send us a photo of the issue occurring?

With more information, we can assist you further.

All the best,
Kariza

ME TOO...

IN FACT, the instructions on the Roku Support page for "HOW TO INSTALL A NON-CERTIFIED CHANNEL" Iis now BROKEN and is in a circular loop with every other Roku page offering this slink, no matter where it is placed no the Rocku page.

I'm unable to even locate this special  "CODE"

For me,  I have Sugar Instant on 3 other Roku's at different locations/homes.

But the new Roku I just registered --albeit works just fine--   but when I attempt to find "ADDING A NON-cERTIFIED CHANNEL" at Roku.com, the **bleep** thing FAILS to take me to the instructions, but instead circular references me to some bull**bleep** page about some other topic, and the link for "HOW TO ADD a NON-CERTIFIED CHANNEL" on THAT particular page also circle jerks me back to this **bleep** page about another topic.  AND I have no idea how I FOUND or ADDED this mysterious "NON-CERTIFIED CODE" OR where in the G. **bleep** world it can be found...

Jesus, why is this so difficult just to find instructions on "HOW TO ADD A NON-CERTIFIED PAGE" and where to locate this stupid "CODE" for Sugar Instant.

Oh, well.

So much for our fun tonight....

Don't need it anyway.

Chunk the Roku in the trash...

Just frustrated from working on this every other night for 2 weeks. Nobody has the answer, and Roku instructions are in a circular reference lock

Thanks DB.  It still works on my other Roku device accounts. I think I'll just remove this account from this stick and login as I do on my other remotes.. And if that doesn't work, I will simply HDMI it or extend it wirelessly from laptop to BigScreen and login to SugarInstant on the web.

Cheers!

Using AirPlay should work, since that's screen mirroring. This is, of course, for iPhones and iPads.

Using Google Cast functions of Roku won't, since that requires an actual Roku app, for Android devices.

Having said that, some video Websites can be "cast" using a Chrome browser tab to a Roku device, but not all. I'm uncertain about how all that works. I normally use a Chromecast device itself if I "cast" from a browser tab. All Chrome browser tabs work with Chromecast that way.

MiraCast is hit and miss from many reports I've read, and I've never used it. It may work for you, depending on the hardware in your device, if it's Android based.

Roku wanted to ban porn and the way they did that was to remove all private channels.

This is after a pressure group from the rebranded Morality in Media whp are celebrating getting porn banned on roku.

The removal of private channels is how they enacted the ban.
