Re: Gotham sports app crashes when opening.

Undoubtedly any wired connections in favor of wireless and it should work. Did for me just now 1-7-25

Re: Gotham sports app crashes when opening.

If you are using a wired connection, switch to Wi-Fi and it works! I couldn't believe it. I can finally ditch the Chromecast!!!!

Re: Gotham sports app crashes when opening.

I have had nothing but problems with Gotham Sports and Roku. I bought the Roku so that I can watch Gotham Sports and initially could not even load the app even though it is advertised as being available. Now I have.the same issue with Gotham Sports crashing when I select the channel I want to watch. I’m able to login and it looks like everything‘s a go  but then you select the channel and it goes back to the Roku home screen. I have done all the suggestions for reinstalling and rebooting to no avail. Interestingly enough, I’m not sure it is a Gotham App issue because I can watch Gotham on my iPhone with no problem. Very frustrating given the fact that I bought Roku for the intent of being able to watch Gotham Sports. I feel like I’m just getting a runaround…

Re: Gotham sports app crashes when opening.

Eileen-

1. Change the ROKU box to use a wireless (WiFi) internet connection, not the wired one. If you do not have WiFi available, then your are out of luck for Gotham Sports App.

2. Also, be aware that when the ROKU reboots, it will switch back to wired ethernet (assuming the ethernet cable is attached).

Both of these are obvious bugs and simple to fix. Item #1 is the responsibility of the Gotham Sports App developers - they should not be *assuming* the wireless interface but rather using either wireless or wired, like every other app on Roku seems to do with no issues. Item #2 (albiet a minor issue in this context) is Roku's fault - they should respect your choice of network in settings and not switch over to wired ethernet when you choose wireless WIFI (and have both).

The problems have existed since Gotham Sports App came out (all versions, includng Feb 2025 latest) and all Roku boxes (I have 3 models) and all firmware for the past half-year or so.

Good Luck!

PS: There has not been a Gotham App update in quite a while. I suspect they paid rock-bottom money to some software developers and have no budget to make even this simple change. They could not possible have a in-house team or this issue would have been fixed in a matter of minutes. If this comment misses the mark, I apoligize. I am sure that Gotham spends multitides more on the promotion/coms teams than any tech teams they likely do not even have.
