Hi @DwightP980,

A warm welcome to the Roku Community!

We're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused on the Fox News channel. In some cases, that resolves the issue. Make sure you restart your Roku device before adding the channel back in to ensure the process is successful. Here are the steps you can follow:

  1. Remove the channel: Highlight the channel tile on your home screen and press the Star button to open the options menu. Select Remove channel and confirm.
    • Note: If you remove a subscription channel billed to your Roku account, you must cancel the subscription before seeing the Remove Channel option. For help identifying this type of subscription channel, read the detailed article about removing a channel.
  2. Restart your Roku device: If reaching the power cord to unplug your Roku device is inconvenient, you can restart the device from the settings menu. Go to Settings > System > PowerSystem Restart > Restart. (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.).
  3. Reinstall the channel. After your Roku device restarts, visit the Roku Channel Store and add the channel again.
    • Note: If you add a subscription channel billed to your Roku account, you must re-subscribe.

For more references on how to troubleshoot any channel playback issues, you can visit our Support page.

If you are still unable to play videos from one channel after attempting the suggestions on the link, videos from other channels play fine. Contact the channel provider's customer support team to report the issue and get help. Channels on Roku are maintained by the channel developers themselves. In this case, there's likely an issue within that specific channel that needs to be addressed with an update from the channel developer.

You can reach them here: Fox News Support.

All the best,
Chel

Hi, @Gladitude

Welcome to the Roku Community.

We understand the issue you have experienced with the Fox News app that buffers and stuck at commercials.

For this issue, we would recommend checking your network connection and ensuring that the Roku device is getting a good network reception since this is the common cause of buffering. After this is checked out, kindly follow the troubleshooting steps provided in this support article on How to resolve a channel playback issue | Official Roku Support.

If the issue persists after performing the provided troubleshooting step, it is advisable to contact the channel provider's support team directly for further assistance. They may offer a potential workaround or indicate whether an update to their application on the Roku platform is required. It is important to note that the majority of channels available on Roku are developed and maintained by the respective channel providers.

We hope you find this information useful, and feel free to reach out to us if you have further concerns or inquries.

Best wishes,
Kash

I'm experiencing the same issue! A Commerical breaks starts, and everything is normal and then a screen with a QR pops up and the show may return to normal programming, or as often happens, just stay on the screen showing the QR emblem. Very aggravating!

ROKU MANIPULATES FOX NEWS APP

Jump to solution

After the last year and especially the last few weeks (including yesterday) the Fox News app on roku has been intentionally manipulated to load incorrectly, not load at all or have connectivity issues.

This is has been a known issue with Roku and they continue to say that they have never done anything to the fox app. I will continue to report this activity In hopes that Roku stops this behavior.

Welcome, @RLJ23!

We're grateful to have you here in the Roku Community.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Please be informed that the majority of apps on the Roku streaming platform, including the Fox News app, are developed and maintained independently by the channel provider.

Since the troubleshooting steps suggested above don't work, we highly recommend coordinating this with the channel provider and reporting this directly to them for further assistance.

You may reach them here: Fox News Support | Contact Us

We hope this will be sorted out soon.

Best regards,
Carly

it is now November 19, 2024 and the Fox News channel is still doing the same thing that was reported on this forum two years ago. Why can Roku not fix the buffering situation with Fox News? it is obviously an issue that you know about. It only happens on this channel. Please fix it!
