8 out of 10 cats does Countdown and Jonathan Creek disappeared from the Roku version of BritBox. I gather other BritBox programs have disappeared as well. Is this situation going to continue? If so I will subscribe to BritBox directly.

It would be better to get help from the channel support team on what they can suggest and how they can help you out regarding this.

The channel provider oversees and maintains the majority of Roku's channels. This also includes their content availability.
