Roku interior cameras sd card problem

I have micro sd cards in my Roku interior cameras and after few days or weeks the Roku camera will say sd card not available or missing. I’d have to take them out and reformat them and put them in again. Tried two different sd card brands, still having this issue. Anyone else have this problem or solution? Thanks.

Re: Roku interior cameras sd card problem

I’m having the same issue. 4 cameras that all have SD cards were working just fine, now undetected. Formatting, reinstalling, restarting cameras has zero effect.

Re: Roku interior cameras sd card problem

Same problem. I have three cameras total. 1 Indoor Camera Indoor 360 that never has this problem. But I have 2 Indoor Camera Smart Indoor Camera SE version CS1000X (firmware 6.1.0 build 48-FD) that seems to lose the SD card every other day. Then I have to reinsert it, and format it. I've also tried a different brand SD card with the same result. I replaced the original short micro usb cable with a long one from Amazon. Thinking that was the problem, I tested it with the original short cable for a couple of days with the same result.

Re: Roku interior cameras sd card problem

Hi @damandbass,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

Thank you for bringing to our attention that your 2 Indoor Camera SE keeps disconnecting from your microSD card. We would like to take a closer look into this issue.

We recommend you try the following:

  1. Make sure the Roku Smart Home app and camera firmware are up to date.
  2. Ensure you're using the suggested size microSD card.
    • Note: We recommend using cards in FAT-32 format that are 8GB,16GB, or 32 GB.
  3. Check to see if another device will recognize the microSD card (i.e. another camera, computer, etc.)

If the issue continues, please let us know.

Cheers,
Riamie

Re: Roku interior cameras sd card problem

Same issue. No solution.

Re: Roku interior cameras sd card problem

Same issue here.

Looking at the recording on the SD cards, it seems to have started in late July 2004.

My guess is the new firmware did the same thing to all 4 CS1000X cameras.

Also seems to have caused the cameras to stop working every 14 seconds, but only while viewing on a Roku device. All other devices that I view the cameras on(phones and tablets) don't have this problem.

Pretty funny that the reason I got these devices(interoperability with Roku streaming devices) is now the problem I have with them.

Re: Roku interior cameras sd card problem

Hello and thank you @JackRaven24

This problem persists.  None of my Roku SE interior cameras detect a micro SD card.  They are all 32GB cards, manufacturer is Gigastone.  My comments inline below to your troubleshooting tips:

  1. Make sure the Roku Smart Home app and camera firmware are up to date. ☑️ App and firmware up to date.
  2. Ensure the user is using the suggested size microSD card.
    • Note: We recommend using cards in FAT-32 format that are 8GB,16GB, or 32GB. ☑️ As indicated above, my microSD cards are 32GB and formatted to FAT32.
  3. Reformat the microSD card. ☑️ All cards reformatted yet again to FAT32.
  4. Remove the microSD card, power cycle the camera, then reinsert the microSD card. ☑️ Removed microSD cards from all interior SE cameras, power cycled and then reinserted cards in all.  Same result: no card detected.
  5. Remove the microSD card, factory reset the camera, then reinsert the microSD card. ☑️ Removed microSD cards, factory reset cameras, reinserted microSD cards and still same result.
  6. Check to see if another device will recognize the microSD card (i.e. another camera, computer, etc.). ☑️ Inserted cards into two computers (PC and Mac).  All cards detected, file system confirmed as FAT32 and readable, writable by both computers.

To summarize: No matter what I do, none of these cameras will recognize, let alone write to, these micro SD cards.   All of them worked just fine until Roku updated the firmware some months ago.  Unfortunately, I don't recall the exact time this became a problem.  However, one of the cards I looked at on my computer had files from July of last year and I found nothing newer. Perhaps the problem began approx then?

My Roku account is about to renew and frankly, I'm now wondering if it's  worth it. I have a few outdoor Roku cameras that I haven't tested, but wondering if they too will have the same issue.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Re: Roku interior cameras sd card problem

Thanks for being persistent on this issue. I've had the exact same ongoing problem. I was going to sign up for the monitoring service but most definitely not now. I hope the division of Roku that deals with this kind of issue sees more comments about losing subscriptions or resulting in lack of same and purchases of products. Maybe Anthony Wood, CEO of Roku, would like to know more about the severity of the damage this unresolved problem has had on the reputation of his company. I would be looking to replace the people who haven't properly dealt with this problem.
