Transferring subscriptions

Jump to solution

So I have a Roku express on one TV and I had to put in all the passwords for all my streaming services into the first one. These were direct subscriptions not through roku. Do I have to go through this long process again for each and every roku I add? The new one does not seem to let me view any subscriptions.

@Perryg114

If you have your subscription directly with the provider (and not through Roku), then you should be able to use on any Roku device (whether account is linked or not - ie. using same Roku account or different Roku accounts).

If your Roku devices are linked to the same Roku account (same email address), then as indicated by @JWS9518 , your subscriptions should be visible on each device. (adding or removing a channel/app from one linked device adds/removes from all linked devices).

If your Roku devices are not linked (using different email addresses), then you will need to install each subscription to each device independently.

Verify you have linked all your Roku devices to same account. (can see the email registered under Settings/System/About on the devices).  If they are different, then just factory reset the device not showing the subscription (press and hold reset for 30+ seconds and re-activate it under the email address of your first device).

While they should show on all linked devices, you will likely still need to login to each subscription on each device. (this requirement varies between subscriptions).

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe if you have all devices under the same Roku account, you should have access to all your apps and subscriptions.

@Perryg114

If linked to the same Roku account, all Rokus will get all the same channel apps that they support automatically installed to them. Thereafter, add/delete on one you add/delete on all.  [Exception: some apps will not run on older non-supported devices.  Apps will not install on devices that they are not compatible with.]  The order in which channel apps show in the Roku home screen channel grid is individual to each device.

Some apps that require a log in have a "one login" feature that will automatically log them in on additional devices linked to the same Roku account.  On those that don't, you'll need to log them in on each device.
