Roku Streambar Pro - hard freeze followed by reboot during streaming

Issue:

While watching streaming on certain channels, Roku will freeze to complete lock with no input/response registered from remote, followed by automatic reboot. Issue is independent of video quality; only happens with certain apps. Has been happening for last ~30 days.

Repro steps:

  1. Start streaming any quality content on noted apps
  2. Watch stream, anywhere from 45 seconds to 3-4 minutes after video starts video will suddenly freeze. Stream might restart and video "fast forwards" [pointing to possible buffer handling issue]
  3. Video will hard freeze, leaving Streambar unresponsive to remote inputs
  4. Roku will reboot and indicator light will pulse orange/red
  5. **Videos played/selected are anywhere from 720p30 to 4K60 HDR

Main apps showing hard freeze behavior during streaming are:

  • YouTube - v2.23 build 115025184
  • Disney Plus - v.1.55 build 2025101400

Also tested with following apps WITHOUT issue:

  • Netflix - v.5.2 build 130088004 (streams for hours w/o issue)
  • Prime Video - v.15.4 build 2025101313 (streams for hours w/o issue)
  • HBO MAX - v.59.6 build 2 (tested with 'Dune: Pt.1' for sustained 4K60 HDR, no issue)

Hardware info:

  • Device model - 9101R2
  • Serial number - YL006L068941
  • Device ID - 3K6196068941
  • Software OS - v.14.6.4 build 9914-95
  • Issue ID - 41-426-008
  • Note - Issue happens when connected through WiFi or Ethernet adapter; not network dependent

    Welcome, pythagorean543

It looks like your Roku Streambar Pro is crashing and rebooting during YouTube and Disney+ streams, while apps like Netflix and Prime Video work fine. Has the device had a recent update? And can you tell us the steps you have taken so far?

In the meantime, here are a few steps you can try:

    1. Update app: (Highlight the app, press the star (*) button, and select check for updates).
    2. Update Roku Software: Settings > System > System Update > Check Now.
    3. Power Cycle the Roku Device: Settings > System > Power > System Restart.

Let us know how it goes!

Sorry should've added this in initial notes

      Direct troubleshooting steps taken:

      • Self-initiated System Restart
      • Full power cycle (10 min device unplugged)
      • Channel remove/reinstall for both Disney+ and YouTube
      • Update system software (check for updates)
      • Full factory reset

      Abstract troubleshooting attempted:

      • Replaced/upgraded HDMI cable to 2.1 spec
      • Updated TV firmware

Really seems to just be those two apps - Disney+ and YouTube - having some buffer or codec issue.
