Roku Express 4K+ Not Seeing Any Wireless Networks

I got a Roku Express 4K+ in May as a gift but didn't need to use it until this week when my previous FireTV stick died. It worked for a few days, but today I unplugged it to try to test the old FireTV stick again.  Now that I plugged it back in, it not only didn't reconnect to the WiFi, it can't see any WiFi networks at all. When I originally set it up, I could see 4-5 including my home network and guest network as well as WiFi from the neighbors.

The rest of my home devices connect to my router and other devices with wireless can see my home network, 2 guest networks, and 3 other WiFi's in the area.

I've searched this community for multiple options and here's what I've tried so far:
-Rebooting my router and then rebooting the Roku
-Moving my guest network over to the 2.4Ghz Band
-Going to Advanced System Settings and running "Reset Network Connection" (Multiple times)
-Plugged the Roku into a different power strip than the original

Roku Info -
Model - 3941X2 - Roku Express 4K+
Software Version - 14.6

Added info: now I've attempted a Factory Reset and I can't proceed because I can't get my remote to pair back to the Roku.  If I pull the batteries and put them back in, the volume controls will work for my TV. But the remote won't control the Roku. If I hold power and back for 5 seconds, the green light on the remote flashes and the white light on the front flashes, but they never resolve and give me control of the Roku. All I did was unplug it for a few minutes and plug it back in. Help?!

  • UPDATE: I decided to try a different device and picked something up from a local store. After a couple days of the the Roku being unplugged, I plugged it into my monitor in my home office near the router, the remote connected, and it could see all the WiFi connections.  I set it back up, moved it to the living room on the opposite side of the house from the router and it's been working since. I still have no idea why it stopped it working, so I'm going to keep using it in a "wait and see" stance. But I'm happy to have it working again.

I assume you mean Home and Back.  I don't think holding Power and Back doesn't do anything.   Try holding Home and Back for 20 seconds which should reset the remote (although I'm not sure that's any different than simply removing the batteries) and then give it a few seconds before holding them for 5 seconds to put it into pairing mode.  Once the light is flashing, connect the power to the Express or push the reset button

If you can't get the remote to pair, it's possible that the Wi-Fi in the Roku device has completely died as that's what the remote uses.  If that's the case, a warranty return may be the only option.

You are correct! I did mean Home and Back. *facepalm* I was pretty tired (and frustrated) by the time I wrote this post.

I didn't realize that the remote uses WiFi (thought it might be Bluetooth).  What's weird is that until I did the Factory Reset, the remote worked fine for the numerous restarts and Network Resets. Now I have no idea if it can see networks because I can't move past language selection.

Since I got this device as a giveaway from a work-related conference, I don't have a receipt or anything, so I'm not sure how I'd go about a warranty return, but I'll look into it. The bright side is I'm not out any money. The more concerning part is trying to figure out why I've had two different streaming sticks/boxes have issues within a week.

        Hi there! gnomicus

Since you've factory reset the device, the remote may have disconnected and needs to be paired again. Try pressing and holding the Home and Back buttons for a few seconds until you see the light on the remote start flashing.

Also, when you try connecting your Roku to the internet, do you see any error messages? Are the available networks showing up after the reset?

        Thanks!
