Roku cannot display italic font or emojis

I own a 2024 Roku Ultra and noticed for a long time that the whole OS cannot display emojis in any app. I noticed this with my Spotify and YouTube playlists, for example. And today I finally had enough of this issue, and wanted to report it.
As you can see in the following photos Roku is unable to display emojis properly:

My Spotify display name Karma (in italic font) is replaced with weird boxes ☐☐☐. Emojis are not showing correctly.

My NVIDIA Shield Pro has no problem displaying emojis properly. See following photos using the Spotify app on my NVIDIA Shield Pro:

Showing my Spotify display name correctly with the colored emojis and not showing weird boxes ☐☐☐ (< replacement for Karma in italic font)YouTube Video titles not displaying emojis correctlyYouTube playlists interface not displaying emojis correctly

Please don’t even start asking for the unnecessary OS version and this and that. It’s irrelevant and my system is up to date. Check this on YOUR end to confirm. The same is happening with the YouTube app and any other app. Roku is unable to display italic font and emojis properly, using colors and the actual emojis. It’s possible that it also can’t display other fonts. Please FIX THIS.

It’s not only the playlist titles. As you can see in the photos it’s also the welcome message when the Spotify app is opened, and every other place where my display name is at, and it’s emojis.

YouTube video titles most likely aswell. Please check every other app. This seems to be a systemwide issue and not something limited to Spotify and YouTube. Also please check wether other fonts are also problematic.

I never have such issues with other streaming players, such as my NVIDIA Shield Pro or Apple TV 4K.

Hi Riamie. Hope im not bothering you but it has been 2 months and no news about this issue? Have the Roku developers been looking into this?

Again it’s very annoying to use apps like Spotify or YouTube and the emoji‘s aren’t properly displayed… It’s a serious quality of life issue. Please prioritize this and flag it with the team again.
