Out of nowhere, my Roku 3 is stuck on the Roku screen. Have tried all the fixes I can find e.g. unplugging Roku, unplugging router and Roku, switching hdmi, resetting and all result in the same screen. White light continues to flash.
Here's how I fixed my Roku 3 that was stuck on the Roku splash screen. Similar to you I came back one day recently to use my Roku, sometime in August 2025, and found it would not boot beyond the dancing Roku logo. Like others, I concluded that it had failed to update correctly, and its software was corrupt.
I resolved the problem by entering recovery mode on the Roku 3 and reinstalling the software, which is easy to do. You get a staple or paperclip and insert it into the reset button opening, being sure that you feel the button click. Hold the button down for at least 20 seconds. Your Roku 3 may reset when you first click the button, but hold it down anyway until it resets again. The Roku 3 will then boot to recovery mode. Next, you will pair the remote by pressing it's button under the battery door for 5 seconds as directed on the screen. Then, using the remote, you will follow on screen directions to connect to the internet, either using wifi, or ethernet. Once connected the software will download, and the Roku 3 will boot up and be unbricked. You may need to log into your apps again, but what else can you do. Just like that and Bob's your uncle.

My Roku 3 (4200X) just started doing the same thing. It is stuck on boot up logo and jingle with blinking white light.
I believe you posted this in a separate thread. Your Roku 4200 is now over 12 years old, and has likely decided it was time to shut down. The 4200 was a terrific player when new, but it has been passed by by more than a dozen models since then. It's time to accept you have gotten your money's worth from it and get a replacement.
Understood, but let's try to understand what happened first and see if it can be fixed before we just throw things out and create waste. I think is is very curious that I have read at least ~5 owners who have reported their Roku 3 having experiencing this issue with a feq days of each other. Also, I will point out that the Roku 3 is still a supported device.

My Roku 4210 has the same issue - it's stuck on the Roku logo screen with a blinking white light. I've power cycled several times, including my router, but it doesn't make it past the loading screen. Yeah, the device is old, but it's worked well til now. Wondering if an update was pushed out that it can't handle... Probably time to retire it...Poor li'l thing got me thru the pandemic and everything!
Yeah, the 4210 is now over ten years old, so it's done pretty well for a consumer electronic device. My original Roku 2 XS didn't last 5 years before it couldn't run most of the available apps.
I have the same issue with my 4210x2. Stuck on the dancing Roku logo screen, with a flashing white light. I've power cycled several times along with my router. The device was working fine 24 hours ago (with occasional reboots lately).
We noticed in your post that your Roku device is stuck on the Roku dancing logo screen. We're here to assist.
Could you tell us when the issue occurs? Is it during streaming or when you start up the TV? In the meantime, ensure your Roku devices are plugged directly into the main socket.

This started 24 hours ago. I have tried new batteries in remote.
Unplugged for full minute and plugged back in. Plugged into wall power source. WIFI is working. TV works on HDMI 1. I dusted every connection.

What model of Roku 3 do you have? Roku 3's are 10-year-old devices and getting toward the end of their life and that may be the reason for your issues. You can try doing a hard reset and see if that helps.

Still have a Roku 3 with relatively few issues over the years. Recently, it would go to a blank screen and stay locked up for a minute before rebooting itself anytime the screensaver came on and ran for a while then waking it up with the remote.
After some troubleshooting thinking it was related to rearranging order of app tiles, I ended up figuring out it was the old "circles" screensaver I had on for years that was the issue. Changing the screensaver to "Roku City" made the crashing issue go away. Just posting this here in case others run into the same issue.

Thank you for reaching out. It turns out the issue stills occurs less often after I changed the screensaver, so that may be a red herring, although when I changed the screensaver to "Roku Jungle" the issue became worse.
I see my thread was moved to "stuck on logo screen" but my Roku 3 isn't fully stuck yet, it does reboot and makes it through then stays working fine for a while. It will stream fine for hours with no problem. Usually the issue happened upon waking up from the screensaver, although I have a suspicion the issue is really something related to the tiles layout as when I reordered tiles is when the issue happened, since today just deleting an app caused the same freeze and crash/reboot.
Today, I was able to also make the issue happen while I was trying to remove an app and the screen froze. I was able to tracker id. Here is the info:
Model: 4200X-Roku 3
Serial: 1GS3AK101432
(there is no "device id" on my about page)
Software version: 14.6.4 build 9914-04
GC version: 14.3.9

Let me know if this helps. If note I will see if I can get a new tracker id specifically when the issue happens upon waking up from the screensaver. For now I have changed the screensaver to the default "Roku Logo Rain" which seems to be the simplest screensaver in case a more resource intense screeensaver is causing it.

Experiencing exact same issue with 4200 X model. Noticed back button on remote not working 8/27. On 8/28 only get dancing logo and can’t access settings as remote won’t work. Have tried all standard resets (unplug power, reset modem, new batteries etc). Online support offered no explanation and told me to buy new device.
I just fixed mine (Roku 3, super old) that was stuck with the stupid dancing logo... I had to do a hard reset (factory reset)... keep the reset pin hole pressed for about 60 seconds, or until the Factory Reset/Service Mode shows up... make sure you keep you remote close with fresh new batteries, you will need to pair it and follow.the prompts from there (connect to wifi, software.will download and update, login, etc)... you will start.like new....this was the only method that worked for me... tried everything
It worked! Thank you so much. For anyone else experiencing this, I had Roku/TV on and used paper clip to push the reset button on Roku. TV screen showed dancing logo, turned off then turned on showing dancing logo again. Even though I held the reset button in for 20 sec, I thought it still wasn’t working so unplugged the Roku power, turned off the TV and gave up. Tried today (24 hrs later), and Roku reset itself and it’s working again!

ChasingAJ your model 4200 is now 12 1/2 years old. Frankly, it's served you well but that player is well past its prime. Regardless of what brand you choose, it's time for a new player.
my old ROKU 3 has resurrected with a hard factory reset. This was the ONLY way. It's a lengthy process but it worked!
Having the same issue. I have the 4210X and just recently stuck on ROKU boot screen and white light flashing on roku. Tried unplugging for over a minute many times. I guess I will try the hard reset. Does anyone know if that also erases the SD card I have in it? Should I remove before hand?

Trying the hard reset or factory reset is a smart move when having a reboot loop issue, and it's great to think ahead before doing the steps.
SD card stores channel data and app caching, not your account or system settings. That said, it’s a good idea to remove the SD card before resetting, just to avoid any chance of corruption or weird behavior during reboot.
