I have been having the same problem and I( find roku's lack of response irritating. They try to shift the blame back onto you. I had one email saying to provide them with certain information which I did but then they never got back to me anyway. I suppose since I pay no monthly fee that they really do not care if things work properly or not.
I’m having the same problem. I have four separate devices and none of them will run the roku app. Can anyone help us.
The Roku channel will not play the selected movie/show. When I select the show I’d like to watch and press the play button, the screen flashes black and then comes back to the previous screen. All other apps work (Netlix, Max, Prime, etc). I see that this issue has been reported in the recent past and Roku says it’s fixed, but apparently it is an issue again.
I use a Roku Ultra. The Roku channel worked fine on Monday and then did not work on Tuesday.
I’ve tried all the fixes listed. Remove reboot and readd. Attached is the bug report recommended as well. This only effect the roku and roku live channels. All other free and subscriptions are working fine.

Works on Desktop but not any of my home ROKU devices. Very frustrating! Tried all of the suggested "fixes" and no change. Second time this happened in last two months.
This used to happen to me occasionally. I'd go to play something and it bounce back out to the show's page. I changed my DSN servers to Cloudflare's (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1). Since then no problems. There are many free public DNS servers. I found some at:

You can try any of these, if you like and see what happens. There's even some instructions for doing it, if you are not sure. Who knows? might help you also.
The Roku channel will not play anything. I’ve tried restarting everything and that did not help. Any suggestions?

You received all that information almost 3 months ago. There are several of us that have not heard back from Roku in two months. Look at Twitter and see the complaints.
I've been getting the same issue for several days, maybe a week, now. The Roku Channel refuses to play streaming content. It does play live TV, though a couple live channels appear to be not working. All other app channels appear to be working normally. This has been happening on both Roku devices in my house. Here is the tracking info from one of them.

Note: I am able to watch Roku channel streaming content on my computer which is on the same WiFi as my Roku devices. So it doesn't appear to be a DNS issue, unless the DNS can be altered solely on the Roku device, separately from the rest of the devices on the network.

If it were a DNS issue, all services would be failing as well.
maybe, maybe not. A different DNS server might give you a different route. It's really tough to say. In my 20+ years I've seen a few similar situations. Some things you could get to some not. Changed DNS and it fixed it. Granted does not happen often but, not impossible.
We have two Roku Expresses and are unable to play any movies from either one. It is very frustating that every other channel works except for the Roku Channel. I have reset them and still nothing. Very frustrated with Roku. We can get to the play mode, but all that shows up is the background of the movie picture along with the movie title and the episode number
The sickest part of this, is that while we are able to watch free commercial-driven services on Roku, the staff of Roku earn a wage to ignore your request
Still not working. Roku sent email said it was issue with tv I have onn. They said everything g is working. They said roku must have Beren hit and I need to wait. It's not a tv issue. My other tv is a hiense and does same thing. ITs NOT A. NETWORK ISSUE!
