Roku TV starts apps are missing
I'm having an issue with my TV, it booted up normally but when it got to the screen that usually shows all your apps and settings is just a blank background. Not a black screen, it's not the screen saver, the only thing on it is my chosen background, logo in top left and time in top right (the time is not frozen). There's absolutely nothing to click on the screen and attempts to use my remote and Roku remote app do nothing, but the light on the TV indicates that it's receiving the input. I've tried unplugging it for a few minutes up to a few hours, tuning it on and off again, replacing the batteries in my remote. The only thing I can think to do is to factory reset but I can't get into my TV's settings, and there doesn't appear to be any buttons on the TV itself other than the power button. This morning I tried to turn it on again after being unplugged for a few hours, it didn't even show a loading like it showed previously, just straight to the blank background. The TV is also mounted on a wall making it hard to access anything in the back, I'm currently unable to dismount it from the wall. It's an older TV so I'm thinking its probably an issue with it's software but I can't do anything to reset it? No idea what model or year, TV says TCL Roku.Solved11KViews0likes18Comments"Continue watching" shows things I'm not watching.
So every week or so my Roku app selects random shows from Netflix for me to "keep watching." I haven't found a solution that permanently takes care of the problem. Some important things to note here. I live alone, and there is only one device I use to watch shows. I am also home most of the time, as I'm physically disabled, so the chances of someone else using my account are very slim. I do not share my Roku login with anyone, I have tried factory resets and logged myself out of all other devices multiple times, and even changed the email and password on my account. This has not fixed the issue. I do not have a Netflix subscription and I haven't for months. I have never heard of nor watched any of the shows in question. When I remove them from the "continue watching" section they immediately reappear. The shows frequently change as if someone actually is watching them. The continue watching section never shows options from apps I actually watch shows on, like Hulu or Apple TV. It only shows shows I have never watched on a single service that I don't have. At this point I'm not sure how to stop this from happening and responses I've seen to people having similar issues have been extremely unhelpful. I would greatly appreciate someone actually reading this post and responding to the problem I have instead of linking me a help article I've already read dozens of times trying to fix it. It's kind of freaking me out at this point.1.7KViews5likes43CommentsRoku TV has sound but shows a grey screen.
My 65 inch tv stopped working. I’ve had it less than 5 years. Everytime I try to turn it on it shows a grey screen. I’ll try to use the remote but can only hear the sounds of me clicking through the menu. I’ve tried checking the hardware, changing plugins, and letting it rest. It’s not connected to a wifi source. I’m hoping there’s a DIY fix because I can’t afford replacement parts. My warranty is out of range to try and return it. Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with it? I’d hate to take it into a shop and be charged the same price as the tv.Solved1.4KViews0likes4CommentsNew Home Screen Arrangement is a Frustrating Bother!
The mini-icons and BIGGER advertisement on the Home Screen is a poor design change — a big step back for many of us. We go to the Home Screen to select our channels, not to view an even larger commercial. Worse, we select among our channels on the basis not just of name, but location in the grid. It's muscle memory. With the smaller icons, the channels have been shuffled to different rows, so we have to hunt for the channel we want. In addition, with smaller icons and our TV across the room, they are harder to see! No doubt, some people with many, many channels will prefer fitting more in, especially those with bigger TV sets, but that ignores the rest of us who much prefer the old way. Please restore the old design or, at least, give us the option to change it back!920Views1like0CommentsRecent changes on the Home Screen
I would like to voice my extreme displeasure with what is happening on the home screen of my ROKU devices. It is very frustrating whenever some unsolicited, unwanted recommendation pops up on my home screen that I am required to “Hide” on each Roku device. I have eight (8) such devices in my home. What I do not have is time to go to each of them to undo or “Hide” something that should never have been there in the first place every time you make an update or new advertisement. This is very frustrating and annoying as I and many others have voiced in the past. When I have to maneuver around or disable a feature that has been forced onto my home screen on eight different devices, you can see the source of my frustration. Please consider this before you come up with another iteration of “Recommendation Rows” or “What to watch” or “My offers” or “Spiderwick Chronicles” or whatever you want to push.856Views3likes2Comments
