Roku TV has sound but shows a grey screen.

My 65 inch tv stopped working. I’ve had it less than 5 years. Everytime I try to turn it on it shows a grey screen. I’ll try to use the remote but can only hear the sounds of me clicking through the menu. I’ve tried checking the hardware, changing plugins, and letting it rest. It’s not connected to a wifi source. I’m hoping there’s a DIY fix because I can’t afford replacement parts. My warranty is out of range to try and return it. Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with it? I’d hate to take it into a shop and be charged the same price as the tv.

  • Had the same issue, I was about to box it up and send it back but then I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it seemed to work normal now and still currently does so it may sound really dumb but unplug it for 30 seconds and then plug it back in then turn the tv on via the remote i think it has to do with an issue using a echo home device to turn on the tv which seemed to be the problem for me I hope that helps 👍

If you shine a bright light on the screen, can you see any image at all?  If so, your backlight has most likely failed.  You'd have to decide if you're capable of replacing the part(s) assuming they can be found.
