Roku using it's own DNS server

I've been watching my network pretty closely. I use in-house DNS servers.

Many of my Roku's will send quite a high number of queries to 8.8.8.8, even though that is not configured for them in the DHCP server, nor has it ever been.

Would this be a specific app(s) making those requests or something with the OS itself?

It is built in backup. You can see the list of IP addresses in one of the "secret" menus.

Re: Roku using it's own DNS server

If it’s a backup, it’s using it often and not in a “backup” scenario. Meaning my primary is not down which would necessitate a backup.
