Also all my Ethernet cables are new. If what successful users say worked, I defy them to tell me where in settings it provides the Ethernet option.
If you want Roku to connect to the Internet through an Ethernet connection, then you need to purchase a Roku with an RJ45 port. If you have Roku devices with no menu item for a "wired" connection, then you likely have models without such a port. Check to see if you have a Roku Ultra, which does have such a port.
You’d think that would be in the literature when you first buy the thing. This does not make me feel better.
https://www.roku.com/products/roku-streaming-stick-4k: "Long-range Wi-Fi®, now up to 2x faster."
https://www.roku.com/products/roku-ultra: "Our best Wi-Fi® with up to 50% more range & Ethernet option."
I have ultra premiere. Ant doesn’t. Why?
You appear to have the lowest-end Roku product which is Roku Premiere--no "Ultra." See https://www.roku.com/products/roku-premiere. It is no longer sold online by Roku. It has no RJ45 port. The "Ultra" model is 2X to 3X the price of the Premiere.
@Desrgu To my knowledge Roku never had an Ultra Premiere. Do you have a Roku Premiere, a Roku ultra, or another model Roku.
From Roku page describing Roku Premiere.
@Desrgu How is Roku lying. Roku NEVER indicated that the premiere model has an ethernet connection. It appears from other posts that you have a Roku premiere.
I have 3 Roku devices. The latest one I have is a Roku express.circa 2020. It does not have an Ethernet port on it. Neither do the other 2 devices I have which are 2017 and 2018 issue. None of my 3 devices have an Ethernet port
My latest purchase: I ran it though my Apple TV unit which does have an Ethernet port, thinking that it would provide a hard internet connection. Along with my Roku. It doesn’t. So I guess I’m stuck with constant buffering or buying a Roku with a hard wire feature.
@Desrgu I am very confused. When you said "My latest purchase: I ran it though my Apple TV unit which does have an Ethernet port, thinking that it would provide a hard internet connection. Along with my Roku. It doesn’t."
Are you trying to connect a Roku Express to an Apple TV streaming device? Does your Apple TV streaming device have an ethernet connection? I have several Roku devices connected to bedroom TV's and an Apple TV device connected to my living room TV. I am not sure why you want to run any Roku device through an Apple TV streaming device.
