I have done everything as suggested. I've plugged/unplugged and started/restarted, and my Roku Express still will not connect. I am so frustrated. Neither my Roku Express nor modem have moved in years so it is not a distance issue. I watched Netflix/Paramount+ shows Sunday with no issues. Monday evening - no internet connection. Tuesday morning, same story. I spent nearly two hours going from my computer to my tv trying every suggestion on this site. It is Wednesday, New Years Day and I just want to watch TV. All of my devices except Roku Express are connected so it is a Roku issue. Any other ideas?
i am currently having the same issue. Have you found any solution?
I have not found a solution. Day 4 with no streaming access due to the Roku Express connectivity issue. Very frustrating.
What is the Roku model number (from Settings/System/About in the Roku device), the router model number (maybe a sticker on bottom or side), and the ISP (internet service provider).
Different Roku models may require different network settings so the above info would help see what we are dealing with. You should also be seeing an error message number in the on-screen message box.
If you have a mobile hotspot available to you, try connecting your Roku device to it. (make sure you enable the 2.4ghz band on the hotspot under the hotspot settings, or "maximize compatibility" in the settings). If able to connect to a hotspot, then helps narrow down to a network issue rather than device issue.
Feel free to post back with above info and any more detail as to issue(s) you are seeing.
Device type: Roku Express
Serial number: X00400EV042P
BTC Broadband is the ISP
I don't see a router model number.
Still none of this makes sense. It just suddenly stopped seeing my internet. Nothing has changed but I do appreciate any help you can give.
I did a reset to factory setting and still it does not see my internet.
I called my ISP and they fixed the problem in 10 minutes.
What did they do? Turn on 2.4GHz?
I am also experiencing this same issue, but my device disconnected from my wifi more than two months ago. I finally just ordered a replacement remote from Roku since the mobile app remote wouldn't work as my device was mysteriously no longer connected to the wifi. My device is a Roku Express, Model Roku Express (3930, 3931 series) # 3930x [Roku LE "Walmart Exclusive"]. When I enter my password for wifi, it keeps saying Error 014.40 incorrect password. I know for a fact I am not entering the wrong password. So I then attempted to connect to my mobile Hotspot. This time it says Error 014.30 incorrect password, yet my mobile Hotspot shows a connected device. So I don't understand how or why my Roku just disconnects from my wifi on its own after 3 yrs! My ISP app also reflects my Roku device as being connected. How is thi possible?
How did they fix it? Also, when you weren't able to connect, was it saying your password was incorrect?
When using the Roku Express 3930, this is a 2.4-ghz only device so you need to make sure the 2.4ghz band of the network is set up correctly and is actually on/working. Some ISPs (internet service providers) have disabled the 2.4ghz band on their routers/firmware or have made changes to the settings that make connecting the 2.4ghz devices a bit of an issue.
As such, the first thing to do is to make sure the 2.4ghz band is actually on/working/broadcasting and then to further make sure that the 'Wireless Mode" is set to b/g/n in the 2.4ghz settings. (this makes sure that all three speed protocols will be used by the ISP routers).
----
As for your specific issue, the 14.40 is generally a password issue error and the 14.30 is usually a network error (the b/g/n setting will usually fix that one.)
Try changing your wifi password. Use simple letters and/or numbers and remove any special characters or symbols from it. I would try this for both the router wifi and your hotspot. (This special character issue seems to affect the Express devices more so than the other Roku devices, but not exclusively).
Try the above password change and then restart both the router and Roku device again, and see if that helps. Feel free to post an update if still needing more help or if the error number changes after doing so. Post back with router model number and ISP as well.
