Roku Express Plus 5G Wi-Fi issue

I have a Roku and a Roku Express +. These devices have been working fine up until yesterday, for some reason, and they had lost connection to the Internet and I had to reconnect them both to the Wi-Fi. I have two separate Wi-Fi’s, 2G and a 5G. I use the 5G on my phone and the 2G for anything that isn’t compatible with the 5G. Even though the Roku and my phone were technically on two separate Wi-Fi’s it still let me use the remote app. But yesterday it stopped and now I’m forced to use the 2G on my phone if I want to use the app or cast something. Does anyone know any way that I can fix this issue or if there was an update and now it’s incompatible.

Re: Roku Express Plus 5G Wi-Fi issue

Hi @legatusking

Thanks for reaching out to the Roku Community.

Your Roku device and your phone or tablet must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Many Wi-Fi routers today use two signals to provide better speed and coverage. These devices are generally referred to as dual-band routers because they transmit data at the lower 2.4 GHz band and the higher 5 GHz band.

When connecting devices to your wireless network, choices may include more than one network with a similar name. For example, you may see something like MyNetwork_2.4GHz and MyNetwork_5GHz. Confirm that your Roku device and your phone or tablet are connected to the same band and network name.
