When I plug in my U-Verse cable box  or my PC they are not recognized on HDMI 1. No device ( is it on)? YES IT IS but  HDMI 1 will not recognize it. I expect I need service. Do you have a phone number for service  The TV is a JVC  50"   LT-50MAW625 ID 830X

DUH, using the wrong HDMI input. My JVC 50" has three HDMI inputs. I chose the wrong one to leave open. Problem Solved.
