Help: My Roku only recognizes one of my WiFi options

Jump to solution

For some reason, one of my Roku devices is having trouble connecting to WiFi. I have two WiFi options: option1 and option2. All my other Roku devices display both options. Unfortunately, it seems that option1 isn’t strong enough for my Rokus to use. So all the TVs in the house are connected to option 2 EXCEPT one of them. The tv that gets the most use cannot seem to find option2. I’ve tried everything. I’ve scanned for more networks. I’ve restarted my WiFi several times. I’ve restarted my Roku. I’ve gone into advanced settings and restarted network settings. I’ve unplugged my Roku device and then plugged it back in. I have manually entered option2 (but it never connects). I don’t know what to do. The Wifi works in the room where this tv is, so it’s not like it’s a spot with no WiFi. I have tried connecting the Roku to option1. It briefly says that it’s connected, but when I try to go into any app, it suddenly says that it’s not connected. What do I do? Please help.

Hello! @rakunn,

Thank you for your post in the Roku Community!

We appreciate your reaching out to us about your Roku device's issues connecting to your Wi-Fi. We are pleased to assist you.

Please try the steps below to help resolve the problem.

  1. Power cycle/ Unplug the Roku device for 30 seconds
  2. Restart the router
  3. Perform a Network Connection Reset on your Roku device by navigating to Settings > Advanced system settings > Network connection reset > Reset connection.
    • Note: Before doing make sure you know your Wi-Fi credentials.
  4. After the network reset, your Roku device will restart, and you will need to return to the Settings menu to set up your wireless network again.

If the issue persists, you can connect your streaming device to a mobile hotspot as a temporary workaround to ensure the problem is not with your device.
