I have Cox and it's doing the same thing, how do I change the wireless mode on my router to b/g/n?

Cox is one those cable ISP companies that is affected.  If you have a 2.4ghz-only Roku device, then the initial thing to check is that your router is set to b/g/n under the 2.4ghz wireless settings.  If you have a dual-band Roku device (2.4ghz and 5ghz capable) then should be able to connect to 5ghz even on these companies' routers.  The firmware for these routers are only affecting the 2.4ghz band.

Some of these ISP have responded by disabling the ability of the user to make changes in the router themselves to this setting so you may need to contact Cox and have them make this setting change for you.  Below are the links to how to make the changes yourself.  If you see it greyed out in the router, then will need to make that dreaded phone call to the ISP.

Use the Cox link provided above.  Users have reported that depending on the Cox router provided to you, the ability to make this change yourself may not be available.  You will likely have to call Cox.  Don't let them tell you this issue does not exist or they cannot make this change.  The ability to make this settings change should never have been taken away from the end-user, nor can they prevent users from using legacy b on their networks so devices can connect.

The only alternative to having the ISP configure the b/g/n on the 2.4ghz band both cost you money.  One is to purchase a dual-band Roku device so you are able to use on the 5ghz band.  The other is to purchase your own router (which you can then configure any way you want), connect it to the cable ISP router, and place the cable ISP in a "bridge" mode. (In bridge mode setups, your new router will handle all your network connections and routing, while the ISP bridged router will be merely a modem.)
