Buffering issue and connection to server is not fast enough

Jump to solution

Roku Express - excellent network connection

Windows 10 - LAN connected through ethernet

internet speed average 550mbps (Ookla speedtest)

Proxy server on the router (SmartDNS Proxy)

why is it still telling me that "your connection to the server is not fast enough" and constantly buffering?

I have tried many of the solutions online (forcing Direct play etc)

anything obvious i haven't tried?

Hello! @Iestyngwilliams,

We appreciate your post in the Roku Community!

Thank you for contacting us about your Wi-Fi's slow connectivity. We understand the importance of a fast and reliable connection and are eager to assist you with this issue.

Power cycle your router, modem, and streaming device to refresh connections. If multiple devices are streaming at once, try closing unnecessary applications or limiting other internet usage.

network reset is helpful if you experience issues with multiple streaming channels.

  1. Press Home on your Roku remote
  2. Scroll and select Settings
  3. Select Advanced System settings
  4. Select Network connection reset
  5. Select Reset connection

After the network reset is done, your Roku device will restart and you will need to return to the Settings menu and set up your wireless network again.

Thanks,

Re: Buffering issue and connection to server is not fast enough

Hello, I have been having trouble for at least 2 months with no connection or constant bufffering in th evening.  I have reset router, internet modem & TV at these times and then checked connectivity.  The router connection was excellent, the internet moden was connected and the TV was ok. I have found another wireless connection and that is NetGear which my neighbor has.

Is there any way to fix this?
