I have a Roku Express that has slowly stopped working. Over the past few months, it would reboot in the middle of a stream. Now, I can't even access the menu. As soon as the menu comes it, it goes back to the ROKU letters and same thing over and over. So no option to get into settings.
I've tried it on a different TV. I've tried a different HDMI port. I've tried a different HDMI cable. I've tried a factory reset with the paperclip. It is powered through the wall outlet. It's not overheating.
Any ideas? As you can see, I've pretty much tried every suggestion.
Do you have another USB power adapter from a phone or tablet you can try or even the TV's USB port (although many TV's USB ports can't supply enough power).
Hi...different user here, but I am having the same issue. It just keeps asking for my email address...sends me an activation code. I use it...activates online BUT NOT THE **bleep** ROKU. . As you may imagine I am sooo totally fed up.
Maybe something to do with the update .... that didn't. When I turned it on it wanted to update so I set it in motion and it hasn't worked since.

When I went to use it tonight, it said it had to do an update. So I clicked OK and it started. Then it said it needed to LOAD the update. OK. And that was the end. Said it couldn't update. Try again. DID. About 3 times. Then it wanted me to input my email address and would send me an activation. I did this 7 times. It sent the email.. I selected activation. It did ONLINE IN MY ACCOUNT. All is good...BUT not on the TV. It still wants my dang email address to activate. AND I did a reset and it's STILL doing the same thing. ONLINE account is just fine. TV not so much. NO ACCESS.
Fire is starting to look good.
I will try another adapter and post the results.
update: tried another adapter, same problem.
I don't really want to buy another because I'm afraid it won't work or will die again. I'm really thinking as others have stated is that an update is the problem.
Time to find another streaming stick as support doesn't seem to be helping much.
another update: trying another factory reset has let me back in.
