Multiple channels crashing upon pushing play to start a live feed.

Jump to solution

First things first, this is not an internet speed or any type of connection issue I'm having. I've also tested these channels on Multiple Roku devices.

Here's 3 just as an example so anyone else who wants to test them can. Please note: the channels do not crash until you try to stream the live feeds.

List of 3 examples.

TV Delmarva

KVVB

PTN- A Pocono Travel Channel (The one with the minus sign, not the one with the colon)

Hi @Rokrew,

Thanks for keeping us posted

We understand that the issue has been persistent despite the troubleshooting steps you have taken to resolve the issue. Since this issue seems to be affecting multiple channels that you're accessing, we recommend performing a factory reset on the Roku to resolve the issue. Kindly be informed that factory resetting the Roku device will require you to re-activate the device and may ask for you to re-authenticate some channels.

For more information about how to perform a factory reset on a Roku device, visit our Support page here: System restart or factory reset your streaming device

Please keep us posted on how it works, and we'll further assist you regarding this.

All the best,
Kash

Just try any of the 3 channels I listed, you'll see what happens.

List of tries: tried 3 channels on 2 Roku TV's as well as a Roku express,

Soft reset all 3 Rokus.

Checked for updates on all 3 channels.

Tried going in the long way on all 3 channels. (Long way meaning: going to search, finding the channel there, then opening it)

Also removed all 3 channels and then reinstalled all 3 channels, same issue.

Trust me, if you just try any of the 3 I listed you'll see what happens.

Nope. Still didn't work. Still all 3 Roku devices loading the channels, then crashing upon pushing play.

If you'd try it on your end you'd see what I'm talking about.

I only tried the first one, but it looks like three more "Direct publisher" channels that no longer work along with "B-Zone" reported by @Spacehog earlier.  Apparently, Roku broke something in the DP code affecting a bunch of DP channels.  Maybe it's intentional since all of these DP channels are being eliminated (or "sunset" as Roku likes to say) early 2024.
