Roku Media Player won't play any audio after OS update
Roku ultra dies not play AC3 audio anymore when playing movies from DLNA server.
Since the similar topic is marked as “solved” (it is not), I will post it here. The “solution” proposed there is to reencode all 100s of movies I have. Right. AC3 worked for years and after recent update the roku device became useless.

Re: Roku Media Player won't play any audio after OS update
See if toggling the Volume Mode during playback of the AC3 content works for you. This is the method/workaround I use on my 4660.
1. Launch Roku Media Player (RMP) and select the video.
2. Once the content begins playing, press the asterisk (*) button on the Roku remote and under the Volume Mode on left side 'options' overlay, try toggling to Off. (then go back to using preferred Leveling or Night mode).
Annoying, but works for me.
Just another Roku user... I am not a Roku employee.

WOW, thanks for that, I guess that just makes the ultra pass the eac3 data to the TV/AVR
I was dreading trying to find a device that would play eac3 over DLNA
