You cannot roll back the Roku OS installation. Roku would have to push a previous version out. That has been done in the past, but only because for issues with the OS itself. This the problem with the HDHR app has nothing to do with the Roku OS, so nothing could be done there. Silicon Dust could revert their app in the Roku channel store, but they are the ones that have to do that. You can't do anything yourself to install a previous app version.
So... should I be purchasing a different brand of streaming device? I have SiliconDust saying their app doesn't touch the audio and no ability to roll back my Roku to a working version.

Their app "touches" the audio because it's supposed to pass it through to whatever handles the audio for the Roku, so that's not quite an accurate statement. They also have the ability to roll back their app version in the Roku channel store, but they apparently don't want to do that because it's working correctly on some models of Roku.
As to other devices, it appears that SD makes a more concerted effort for other platforms, as I've seen them admit that on their forums. They don't work as hard making their Roku app work as well as other platforms. The app works just fine on my Android based players, although I can't speak to how it works on an Apple TV player.

You're not telling us anything that can help. What model Roku device? What exactly do you mean you can't "see" the apps? Are they simply not playing content, you can't open the app, or the app is literally missing from your home screen? Is your network connection good?
SD has released a new update of the HDHR app on Roku yesterday (May 28). However, I'm still not getting any audio from my Premiere 3920. My Ultra 4800 was working with the previous update. The app loads and I can select the various channels the receiver is picking up. But no audio through the Premiere. Since the broadcast audio is AC3/Dolby Digital, there's no issue with the TV supporting the audio codec.
